The Tarkine

The Tarkine region is comprised almost exclusively of public land, which is actively managed by the State. The region encompasses a diverse range of land uses and values with around 75 per cent reserved land managed by the Parks and Wildlife Service.

The Tarkine is critically important to Tasmania’s forestry industry. It is important both for its small amount of production forest land sustainably supplying wood products and for special species timbers​.
