Right to Information

New procedures for releasing public documents in Tasmania were announced on Tuesday 10 June 2015.

Consequently the results of requests will be published online within 48 hours of them being released to the applicant.

The policy change is designed to share more information with the public and ensure that the Tasmanian Government and its agencies are more transparent and accountable.

Please note this will only apply to public interest RTI requests, not requests for personal information.

This reform will bring Tasmania into line with Queensland and the Federal Government.

The department routinely publishes information about the programs, policies and services we provide to help the public understand what we do. This is in accordance with the Right to Information Act 2009, which provides for public access to information held by government bodies.
