Planning Tasmania’s freight system
Freight infrastructure is expensive to maintain and provide. Investment decisions are long-term and need to be supported by adequate freight demand.
To ensure investment in freight infrastructure is strategic and supports state growth, the Tasmanian Government is also undertaking a range of targeted planning and investment projects.
The Tasmanian Integrated Freight Strategy provides a coordinated framework to guide freight planning and investment, across modes.
Infrastructure Tasmanian has been established to assess, prioritise, and review major economic infrastructure proposals, including the coordination of all infrastructure funding submissions to both the Tasmanian and Australian Governments.
